What our Families are Saying

After a tricky start in our daughter’s life due to covid and separation anxiety, I am delighted to say that thanks to Pippins, this was squashed quickly. The whole team at pippins feel like a second family to our daughter who is constantly asking every day when she’s next going in. The facilities are fantastic, I feel 100% safe leaving my child there and if you ever have any queries the amazing new management deal with matters professionally and efficiently. I continue to recommend Pippins to everyone, and my daughter is thriving thanks to them.

My son started at Pippins in September 2021, initially attending for 2 days a week and now attending 3 days a week.

The nursery offered flexible and tailored settling in sessions for him although he settled very quickly, but it goes to show the support and reassurance that Pippins provides to the children in their care and their families.

He loves attending Pippins and is happy, comfortable, and confident in the environment. The activities provided for the children are varied, fun and educational and he often tells us the highlights from his day. The staff at Pippins are kind, caring, accommodating and supportive and it is this and the stimulating environment and activities that has helped him to thrive and develop in his time there.

When he was attending and had to take antibiotics, the staff were attentive to this and got him to take it so well that we then had no resistance at home as we previously did. All the staff were supportive and encouraging whilst we toilet trained him which was hugely reassuring for us at a time of huge development.

We have never had cause to raise any concerns with the staff in relation to him but we know that they are there, contactable and willing to help if needed. We have had opportunity to speak with the staff and his key worker at parents’ evening, and time and effort has clearly been put into the preparation for that.

Recently, the nursery have put great effort into helping the children in the rocket room be school ready and this has had a real impact on him feeling excited and confident about starting school. They also had a lovely trip to the forest which he loved and continually upload and comment on tapestry which helps us be more involved in his learning and development and for the nursery to know him and what he is up to and enjoys out of the setting. Whilst They have certainly helped and prepared him for starting school, both he and we will be very sad to see his last day at Pippins and say goodbye.

All in all, we cannot praise and recommend the setting and its staff enough. We are lucky to have chosen such a wonderful, supportive and nurturing environment for our child to start on his educational journey; the work, care and creativity they put into all they do and the development of the children in their care is exceptional.

Pippins look after my 2 year old daughter. She is so happy there! She has a good relationship with the nursery workers and even comes home each day singing their names. They are extremely positive and give their all into looking after the children there. My daughter always goes in and leaves Pippins with a smile. Happy child, happy parents!

They are also great at posting on the care diary each day my child is in, and adding photos of my daughter onto the tapestry when involved in activities. This is just lovely to see and I’m always exited to log on!

The new management team appear to be managing admirably and always have time at the door to chat. Nothing is ever too much trouble.

My son has attended Pippins for over two years, he will be sadly leaving next week as he starts in reception in September. My eldest son attended Pippins previous to starting school where he is about to go into year two.

I have nothing but praise for Pippins, moving my boys there was the best decision I have ever made, my only regret is not having them there from the start. My eldest attended two other nurseries in the town before Pippins and honestly the difference is unbelievable.

My youngest had not long moved to Pippins when covid and lockdown happened, when everything came to open up again the nursery my eldest attended suddenly told us that they no longer had space for him on the days that I worked even though those were the days he attended previously. As you can imagine this was a very stressful time for us not knowing what we were going to do, my husband reached out to Pippins and they bent over backwards to accommodate my eldest and he started there straight away. I cannot put into words what a relief that was and he made some amazing friends who he is still very close with now.

Everything about Pippins is amazing, the staff are so friendly and welcoming, nothing is too much trouble. My boys absolutely love Pippins and have made some really lovely friends there. Pippins make so much effort not only with the activities they provide for the children in the setting but also the support. My youngest son has a speech delay which wasn’t even mentioned at his previous nursery, yet Pippins not only did a “let’s talk more referral on his first day but they have supported him with extra learning as they knew the speech and language therapy waiting list was over 2 years long. We still haven’t had a referral but his speech has come on so much that it’s only certain letters that he doesn’t pronounce clearly, which is all thanks to Michelle and Luke working with him. Tapestry is also a lovely record of his time at Pippins, it’s so nice to be a little fly on the wall, but I really appreciate that it takes time to upload that for every child so it shows they really do go the extra mile.

Pippins also makes such an effort with events outside the nursery as well, they do a Christmas bazaar every year which we always attend, a graduation ceremony for the school leavers, the host a second hand sale every year, and they recently did a leavers trip to Eggesford Forest.

As of September, both my boys will be at Landscore Primary School where we use Kidz Stars Club before and after school which is run by Pippins’ staff which is absolutely amazing. My eldest loves it so much that he attends on a day we don’t need childcare because he enjoys it so much. It’s also lovely that even though the children have moved on from Pippins to school they still see the staff at Kidz Star Club and they have that familiarity when starting school.

Pippins have done everything they can to prepare the school leavers for their transition to school. My youngest son can dress himself, put on his socks and shoes, he even packs his own lunch box and this is all down to Pippins as my boys are lazy when it comes to dressing etc and would happily let me do it but Pippins has instilled independence in them both.

My final point is the fantastic communication we receive from Pippins, newsletters, tapestry, reminder text, emails and phone calls which is much needed reminders for busy mums. And you are always able to talk to a member of staff at drop off or pick up.

I will stop gushing now but I hope you can feel from this email how happy we are with Pippins and in the crazy busy world of having young children and being a working mum and juggling everything that comes with that it is so reassuring to know that one thing you never have to worry about is how well your child is being cared for at nursery.

Whatever the outcome of the Ofsted inspection they are outstanding in my eyes.

I’d like to take the opportunity to tell you how absolutely wonderful we think you are.

Pippins has provided full time care for our two children over the past two years. Our son is shy and found it difficult to settle into a previous creche. Staff were patient and supportive and he is now a confident and mature little boy who delights in telling us that he can count and say the alphabet. He’s even able to begin spelling short words which is impressive. Our little girl is upset when she doesn’t get to go to nursery as she loves it so much! The varied activities, games and outings have given plenty to keep our little ones interested and inspired. Thank you!

My son attends twice a week and myself and my husband often comment how nice it is that he is so happy to attend. The staff are always so friendly and helpful. At times I have had concerns regarding his behaviour but I have felt listened to and I feel the staff try to help where they can.

Since Sharleen took over the position of manager we have noticed such an improvement in a few areas. We feel there’s an improved level of professionalism and communication and just an overall happier feel.

So basically, we think the staff and the setting at Pippins is fab and we are happy to send our son there ………. And can’t wait to send my youngest!

I cannot thank Pippins enough for the time and effort they have put into helping my son. He didn’t get on well at his first nursery, but the professional knowledge and energy that the staff at Pippins have displayed has meant that, since joining Pippins a year ago, he has shown a remarkable difference in his social skills, confidence and overall happiness.

He is always happy to attend Pippins and I am amazed by the sheer variety of creative activities which he is able to participate in. I am also genuinely touched by the warmth he is shown by the staff.

My son has been attending Pippins since September 2021. I cannot thank all of the staff at Pippins enough for the care they have provided him. The communication between staff and parents is fantastic and it is lovely to get regular updates on how he is getting on with different areas of his development through tapestry. I am also aware of what he has eaten and the naps he has taken each day through the care diary which is fantastic. He has regular physio as he is showing signs of monoplegia. The staff at Pippins are great at doing his exercises and supporting him in any way they can with walking independently.

As a parent I think Pippins is a fantastic nursery and the staff put the children at the forefront of everything they do.

My son has attended Pippins Nursery since he was just over a year old and he is now approaching his 4th birthday.

We have been delighted with the care he has received since the first day he entered the ‘Baby Room’ where he has been nurtured and cared for by the wonderful Pippins Team.

His journey through to the ‘Rocket Room’ hasn’t always been easy and he has required referrals to speech and language and Thrive. The Pippins staff, in particular Michelle, were quick to identify these needs and to talk us through the referrals, offering us advice and suggested activities to support our child along the way. Michelle has gone above and beyond to support our son, even calling us from home when she was isolating due to covid simply to offer us advice when we were struggling with aspects of our son’s behaviour. We can’t thank her enough for everything she has done for him over the last three years.

He loves attending the setting and has engaged well with the well-thought-out topics that the staff deliver. We have been kept well informed of his learning through regular emails and updates on Tapestry. More recently, we have been impressed with the transition process to prepare him, and us, for Primary School.

He is now a confident, happy and determined little boy ready to move on to his new Reception Class and we owe a lot of this to the fabulous Pippins Team.
